Only a handful of states have laws forbidding discrimination against gays in the workplace. Also, even those companies and states that cover sexual orientation matters may not include gender identification in their antidiscrimination policies. Therefore, transgender individuals have even less job security than gay workers.

All teens have dreams for their future. Many hope to be successful, make a decent living, have lots of friends, and fall in love. Getting married and having a family are often part of this dream as well. For GLBT teens in the United States, this may be a dream that's hard, if not impossible, to achieve. The United States has federal laws denying gay and lesbian couples the right to marry. This issue, as well as the right of GLBT couples to adopt children, are hot-button topics in the United States.
